Volunteers and staff deliver to Farmington and Unionville residents Hot lunches will be delivered between 11:30 am – 1:00 pm. Special diets and textures are available, as well as the option of cold dinners and double meals, as needed.
To Apply, participants must
· Be 60 years of age or older
· Be unable to eat at a community meal site
· Be assessed by staff as medically homebound
A $3.00 donation per meal is suggested to help cover costs. However, no one is denied a meal if unable to donate.

Senior Community Cafés offer lunch to people 60 years or older, as well as their spouses or caretakers. Congregate Meals provide an opportunity for seniors to have lunch together to promote socialization and decrease feelings of isolation. Meals are served every Monday and Friday at 12 noon. Please call to make a reservation no later then 10:30am one business day in advance by contacting our office 860-673-1441.
The Medical Equipment Program is available for individuals of any age and from any town. This program allows individuals to borrow medical equipment for a small service charge helping to ensure safety while at home. Our stockroom contains an assortment of items, such as walkers, canes, wheelchairs, commodes, shower chairs, tub transfer benches, bedrails and much more. We do accept donations of medical equipment that are clean and gently used

Our volunteer "Friendly Shoppers" provide grocery shopping assistance to seniors who live alone and may need help getting to the grocery store. The senior has the choice of accompanying the volunteer or making a list of needed grocery items. The individual requesting assistance is financially responsible for payment of the items. If you are a resident of Farmington or Unionville, please contact our office to enroll in the Friendly Shopping Program.
Services for the Elderly offers a wonderful "pick-me-up" to our Farmington homebound seniors. We provide birthday bags to our Meals On Wheels clients, as well as special gifts throughout the year. The Farmington Community Chest and the Farmington Garden Club, as well as local churches and individual groups are active community members in these programs. We are also grateful to our volunteers and their commitment to making smiles!
Volunteers provide Farmington and Unionville seniors with transportation to routine medical and dental appointments in surrounding towns where families and/or other agencies are not available. There is a 2 ride-per-month limit and a minimum of 2 business days notice for this service. There is no charge for this service, but all parking fees are to be paid by the participant.
The A.A.R.P. Tax Volunteers provide free tax assistance to Farmington seniors during the regular tax season by appointment. A.A.R.P. Tax Volunteers will be here every Thursday starting the 1st Thursday in February running through the last Thursday before the April 15th tax filing deadline. Appointments may be made by contacting our office after January 1st.
